Lazy Afternoon Clouds

I looked up and WOW, the clouds were amazing looking. The sky looked so large and graceful yesterday afternoon.

Highland Park Village's ornate wall gives either an early 1930's or a Middle Eastern look.

BBQ Anyone?

Memorial Day in the US is a day for remembrance and BBQ's. We grilled up some veggies here and threw the burgers and steaks on after.

A View into Old Texas Life

This mural pained on the side of a Grapevine, TX building shows what life used to be like back in the 1800's. This town still holds on to its roots by keeping some of its old town tradition.

Spaceship????

Actually it's a view from the base of the Reunion Ball in Dallas. Their is an observation deck and restaurant at the top of the ball that is attached to the Hyatt regency Hotel.

Building Statue

This statue sits above the Dallas Power and Light building in downtown. This building has been transformed into ultra chic downtown apartments and now has a Tex-Asian restaurant named Fuse located on the 1st and 2nd floors.

Take me out to the Ballgame

Looking at the grounds of Ameriquest Field in Arlington, the Texas Rangers get ready to play a day game yesterday against the Los Angeles Angels. This park does not get a lot of acclaim but it is one of the nicer places to see a baseball game in the US

Anything to Sell?

I thought this old dusty Pawn Shop near DFW airport looked especially good in B & W. Not a place I like to frequent but if you need quick cash this is your place.

Art Deco

This is the old corporate HQ of Lone Star Gas. It is well preserved but very vacant at this point. Hopefully with the resurgence in Dallas it will again be occupied.

Corporate Grafitti

A company has creatively used wall paint to get their name out on the back of their building. Not a bad look.

Old Impala

I was walking down the street the other day and saw this beautifully restored Impala. Great paint job and those huge white wall tires looked beautiful. They just don't make them like they used to.

Dragon Holder

It looks Medieval but it's the light holders at Highland Park Village. Pretty cool how they did something more with the simple lighting fixtures.

Not much more to say but art through a window and the reflection of me on my bicycle.

Bank of America Building Reflection

This is the Bank of America Tower in downtown as seen from a reflection off of the Hyatt Regency.

Elves in Dallas?

So rather scary statue's of elves are set in an otherwise beautiful park in Highland Park. Trust me when I say the others are very odd looking!!!

Redblood Club?????

Not sure if this bar is the place for the squeamish but it has a real cool name. I wonder what happens in a place like this!!!

Every Window has it's Star

This 60's era building located downtown has stars located above and below every window. It used to be one of the prominent structures of the skyline before the modern marvels were created.

Post No Bills

It appears this telephone pole has been the site of many flyers in the past. Hundreds upon hundreds of old staples litter this pole where people post bills advertising everything from bands to missing animals.

Old Time Rail Road

In Grapevine, TX you will find several old time railroad cars on display. This engine caught my eye because of it's massive scale. I still can't imagine that rail travel was the only way to go long distance less than a 100 years ago. This world has come a long way.

FRIDAY

I figured since it was Friday Beer would be a good focus today. I took this picture yesterday downtown when I saw 2 beer delivery men leave this keg sculpture!!!! Have a good weekend.

A Great Place to Eat

Yummy!!!! Baker's Ribs near downtown makes some of the best ribs around. Just make sure you go in with a huge appetite.

Thunderheads

This photo was taken last evening when massive thunderheads developed about 40 miles north of Dallas. This happens regularly in Dallas when the humid Gulf of Mexico air and the cool northern air clash. These same clouds spun into tornados later in the night eventually taking 3 lives.

Downtown from Deep Ellum

As I have said in a previous posting, Deep Ellum is the alternative side of Dallas and I wanted to show the proximity of this part of town to Downtown. It sits North East of town just across route 75.

Fried Chicken or Chicken Fried Steak?

Located in Roanoke, TX you will find this small restaurant named Babe's! What makes this place different is that you will only find 2 choices for meals. You can either have the Fried Chicken or the Chicken Fried Steak platter. That is it!!!!! I will tell you that they are good at what they do and you will find either dish the best that you will ever have.

Please Pay Up

A common site in downtown Dallas are the parking boxes at public parking lots. Please squeeze your $5 bill into a hole that is made for a quarter and they won't ticket or if you are lucky tow your car!!!!

A Taste of Spain

If you didn't know any better you would think that this image was taken in Spain. Not really, it is the logo of a small tapas restaurant in the Knox Henderson section of Dallas named "Cafe Madrid".

Cinco de Mayo

In honor of Cinco de Mayo I have photographed a bodega in a primarily Hispanic area of Dallas. There will be partying until the morning tonight all over Texas.

Street Level

I thought it would be cool to see what it looks like from street level. I took this picture in Irving because I liked the repetition of the speed bumps.

Iconic Pegasus in Building Reflection

The Pegasus in downtown Dallas is an icon from the old Mobil Oil days. I was walking down the street the other day and looked up and saw its perfect reflection in one of many downtowns reflective buildings.

Dallas' Transportation System

People in Dallas drive a lot and these multiple Freeway interchanges are a common site around town. I was sitting at a stop light waiting to get on and thought this shot captured daily life perfectly.

Running of the Horses

These are the famous horse statues located in Irving, TX. They are located in the middle of a huge courtyard of the Williams Complex.
