These self service directories are stationed around downtown to help people unfamiliar with the city get acquainted.

Uptown Entrance

I have written about Uptown numerous times in my blog because it is an area that is growing with a younger crown in Dallas. Just north of Downtown Dallas the building boom is wild and shows no signs of slowing down.

Dick's Last Resort Artwork

This motorcycle statue sits outside of the Dick's Last Resort. If you have never been to one of these restaurants, this statue takes on the blue collar motif they try and portray.

American Airlines Center

This is where the Dallas Stars and Mavericks play their home games and is the anchor of the new Victory project in downtown. It is a great venue and will be a focus of Dallas for years to come.

Stanley Korshak

This is one of the most upscale department stores in the DFW area. The name is Stanley Korshak and is part of the Crescent Court complex.

Old Time Advertising

This antique store in Dallas has the correct idea of marketing in these storefront billboards.

Turtle Creek

Turtle Creek flows from Highland Park down through West Dallas. The city has made it a focal point by putting parks and recreation areas along its banks.

I. M. Pei Building

One of the most interesting buildings in Dallas, the I. M. Pei designed building twists upward into the sky.

Trinity Railway

The Trinity Railway is a great way for people that work in downtown Dallas to get to work. This railway runs from Ft. Worth to Dallas.

SWA

Southwest Airlines is based in Dallas and their planes can be seen flying over downtown from Love Field.

Victorian Dallas

There is a cluster of Victorian era homes that still exist just north of Dallas. I don't believe that people still live in them but many of them have been turned into antique stores and other businesses. I think that they have done a great job restoring all of them.

Looking Down McKinney Ave.

Looking directly down the trolley tracks on McKinney Ave. in Uptown you can see how close Uptown is located to Downtown by referencing the Reunion Ball in the distance.

Statue

This statue is located downtown in from of the Tower of the Americas. It's strange because downtown Dallas does not have many Greek looking statues like this one.

Good Eats

There is not much better than Texas BBQ and Dickey's is a good place to start. There are many outlets in North Texas but it still has the small home town feel.

Egyptian Statue in front of the Infomart

Not sure why they have these Egyptian looking statues in front of the technology center of Dallas but they make for an interesting site on the walk into the building.

Dallas Man Hole Cover

This is an official Dallas Man hole cover located in Uptown.

America's Team

The Dallas daily photo has been void of the most important thing to some residents until now. The COWBOYS. I know that they had a tough first week of the NFL season but a huge game Sunday night can get them back on track.

Gas Prices Falling

I took this photo a few weeks ago when regular unleaded was at $2.69 here in the Dallas area. I filled up yesterday and it was $2.26 a gallon.

Walking Down the Stairs of the W Hotel

These are the travertine stairs in the new W Hotel in the Victory area of Downtown. They use potted grasses to make a modern boundary to the stairs.

In Remembrance

I have deviated from the Dallas photo blog today to remember the victims of September 11. I lived in New York during this terrible day and thru the recovery and it will forever have a place in my heart.

The Majestic in Focus

The Majestic Theatre downtown used to be the grand dam downtown. Now that a revitalization is occurring this theatre is starting to revive as well.

Wealthy Dallas

People in Dallas like to show that they have cash and what better to do that but with a new Ferrari or Maserati????? Boardwalk cars in Plano specializes in selling these beauties.

Indoor Fountain

This ornate fountain sits inside of the Infomart and provides a nice look as well as a soothing sound while in the building.

High School Drawings

These are drawings on the side of a Dallas High School. The students drew these pictures and the best were installed on a wall so that everyone can view them. Great idea.

Opera Architecture

This is the fairly new Dallas Opera. It was a huge addition to the Dallas scene which now brings culture to a city that was not known for its arts scene.

Summer in Downtown

The city skyline looks like a portrait in this picture. The clouds and reflection don't show the 106 degree temps from the day!!!!

Beautiful trees line the area around Turtle Creek. The canopy of trees like this oak make for a great place to take walks or ride a bike.

Children's Care Windows

This is the facade of the Children's Hospital in Carrolton. A very nice thing to look at before you enter the hospital.

Katy Trail

The Katy Trail is a walking and biking trail that runs weaves its way from downtown Dallas north into Highland Park. This trail is a converted railroad right of way and was a great way to turn something ugly into something that can be used by all.

Infomart Reflection

Taken on a hot humid day, the clouds and blue sky reflect well off of this interesting building.
